Alexander McQueen Spring 2011

Long live McQueen one of the great designers of our time. I was very grateful that Sarah Burton who had worked with McQueen for over 15 years was able to continue the McQueen legacy. She really understood his vision, style and aesthetic and was able to carry that through into this collection.  The collection was reminisce of previous McQueen silhouette but with a touch of a feminine spin. “The very first outfit could stand as a manifesto for the future: The tail coat is a trad McQueen piece, but here it was softened, its edges unfinished, and the hard, peaked shoulders that were another McQueen signature had been slashed open, relaxed.”Style.com. The collection was inspired by nature and had a very softened feel rather than the darkness and drama that was usually coming from McQueen’s looks. I am very pleased with what Sarah had done with this collection it still felt like there was a piece of McQueen in all of it. I was definitely ready to judge this collection but Sarah proved to us she can take over the amazing legacy that is McQueen
